What's surprised you the most about me (if anything) since beginning to read my LJ (or when you met me IRL, for those who have)? Has anything about me been completely unexpected or have I always fit the picture of me you had in your head?

So the Winter poster sale started today, and I got this poster,

this poster,

and a poster of the old Yankee Stadium with important dates on it and championship years... But I couldn't find a pic of it online and didn't feel like taking one. I'll probably go back and get more (there's a Gossip Girl one I wanted.) But I also looked at an Apocalypse Now poster, and... Okay, all of my favorite movies are violent, lol. Except for like... Grease and Almost Famous. But seriously. Like a lot.

I totally had this one!

( And apparently, there was another Poodle named Amy lololol. Duh, of course I'd be a poodle!!)

Today/tonight I went to karaoke. Then I had Japanese food with Corey and my dad, and came home and did this.

D.C./Virginia was great, as usual. I was sad to leave so soon.

Tuesday I flew down, and we went out for Mexican and then to see Brothers. ) Then yesterday, Aunt Marcia and I went shopping (lol shopping post later) and then we met Uncle Mikey and went to the Caps game!

... AND THEY FINALLY WON WHEN I WENT!! LOLOL. Every year, we go when I visit and I was 0-3! I mean, I always like being at hockey, and I'm always grateful that they take me... But the win was so much fun. I had on my Green shirt under my Ovy jersey and they both scored <3. And the Verizon Center was awesome to be at, it was packed and the crowd was so amped. Now I CAN'T WAIT to go to the Garden on the 30th to see my boys at home <333333333.

And I flew back this morning.

Anyway, I hope everyone on here who celebrates it has a great Christmas <3. For Christmas, Corey and I are going to the movies (duh) to see the Hurt Locker.

YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!! Matt and I ARE going to Buffalo this Saturday to see Rangers/Sabres!!!

I called my dad to tell him, and at first he made a long frustrated sound. But I told him it's his fault because he raised me to be a Rangers fan and he goes " Yeah, it's a religion." Lol and he said today he'd been talking to a colleague about how he was glad I wasn't going, hahahaaa. Well, now he can go back and tell him OTHERWISE.

The tickets were like half of what it cost me see the Leafs, lolll. I've never been to HSBC... I hope it's not too bad, we're sitting upstairs behind where the Rangers shoot twice. So I better see a lot of goals go in that net, lol. And I better not see their fourth straight loss. But whatever. I just want to see them <3.

I'm on crack. The Rangers fucking suck, but I just called Matt to see if we could drive down to Buffalo on Saturday when they play the Sabres. We talked about it like a million years ago, but I was looking at prices again on StubHub today. ... And I'm seeing them later this month at home when I go back for the holidays, but... I love them (even after the last three games.) I really want to go. I hope we do :( Maybe they'll win for me if I'm there. And I'm undefeated at road Rangers games this season (1-0, baby!)

(P.S. The Giants are even worse.)

Anyway.

Day 15 → A fanfic

Oy. Okay. I really don't read a lot of fanfiction anymore, but I went on fanfiction.net (always a masochistic event) to look for porn non-slash Inglourious Basterds smut. And I found this:

http://www.fanfiction.net/s/5358206/1/Semper_Fi#

And it doesn't suck. And the OC isn't a Mary Sue. (And I swear I didn't write it, lol!)

Day 14 → A non-fictional book

Maus (and Maus II.) It's the story of what the author's father went through during the Holocaust, namely his experiences in the concentration camps. His was an incredible story, which gives a lot of sick insight into the camps. The book actually shows it being told as a flashback, so there are several scenes from current day (when it was published) that show the relationship between Art Speigelman and his father Vladek.

What I feel separates it from other books on the subject is that it's a graphic novel (or, graphic nonfiction.) Spiegelman drew the people of different religions and nationalities as different animals (the Jews are drawn as mice, the Americans as dogs, the Germans as cats, etc.) Since it isn't just text, it's a completely different medium.

Like the other books I've posted, I've read it a million times, and even though it's sad, and harrowing, I keep going back to it.

Do you put up decorations for the holidays? If so, when do the decorations go up and when do you take them down?

MOVIES // Inglourious Basterds Book
Day 13 → A fictional book

It was between this, and Catcher in the Rye... But I've read the Outsiders a million times more.

If you haven't read it (icu o_o [♥],) it's about a group of teenagers/young men in Oklahoma in the sixties, and the problems the rivalry between their group and the group of preppy kids cause. I love the characters SO MUCH, and one of my favorite parts is the one where S.E. Hinton is just describing all of them (I also have a serious fictional-character crush on Dallas, even though he only has love for Johnny.) But what's more, I love the relationships between them. The main boys in the book are so rough around the edges, but they love each other so fiercely, and all of said relationships are so different.

I can't tell you the first time I read it, and like Blood and Chocolate I don't how many times I have read it since. It just never gets old for me. Except... A few years ago, I had gone a while without reading it and picked it up again after I bought the movie on DVD only to find spoiler alert :O )

P.S. Lol, good job at my not posting any adult books.

And uuugh, after Thanksgiving dinner, Eric was talking to my mom about books they had read recently, and I haven't read any books for pleasure since the summer. Jealousssss.

Anyway, I'm back in Canada. My trip back up was easy, but I got like no sleep last night, so I just passed out when I got back to my dorm. I'm kinda bummed to be back (at school, not in Canada) because I basically came back to crunch time and I feel like soon I'm going to wish I was back home playing Scattergories with Corey instead of cramming. But I'll be back in less than a month. Which means I hope to see my Toronto friends a bunch before Winter Break =)!

... Also... The fucking Rangers. They gave up thirteen goals in their last two games. It was nauseating. And they have to play Pittsburgh again tomorrow. They seriosly need to wake up.

Day 05 Your favorite quote

" You may say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one." - John Lennon (Imagine)

Okay, so this one is kind of cliché as far as favorite quotes go, but I love it. I don't follow it in a naïve, kind of Disney-dreaming sense, more like in the sense that I do have goals for myself.

Day 06 → Whatever tickles your fancy

Lol, I could NOT decide what to put. So here's a puppy trying to attack itself in the mirror. (Even though I feel so bad when it crashes into it :( )

Day 02Your favorite movie

I'm going to have to go with Almost Famous. I saw this movie when I was about fourteen years old, in my freshman year of high school. So, obviously, I first connected with the adolescence of Patrick Fugit's character. But more than that, it was about music-- especially Classic Rock, which at that point in my life I was about to get very heavily into. And it was about writing, something I did way more of during my high school career than I did actual homework. This movie shaped me, so it will always be very, very dear to me.

Not only do I connect with it, it's Cameron Crowe at his best. The writing makes the story funny, and endearing, and painful... I LOVE the cast, especially Frances McDormand. And of course, it has an amazing soundtrack.

Damn, now I want to watch it.

Day 01 → Your favourite song

Of all time? Keep on Rocking in the Free World, by Neil Young

In short... First of all, this song came out in 1989, and since I was born in '87, it's one of the songs I heard a lot when I was really little. Today, Neil Young is one of my favorite artists. I love this song both musically and lyrically, depressing as it may be. It also has one of my favorite riffs ever.

... Also, I wonder why I have no musician icons... I think I like too many to have them be represented fairly :/

Ugh... I am so deflated from last night's game.

I was pretty much a zombie after it was over, and I still feel really blah over it today. I mean, being down by six runs was bad, but I almost tying it up is almost worse. And yeah, you can say it's good they showed fight, but... Aaaaaaah. Plus, it wasn't kinda disheartening to see Jeter and Tex screw up that late in the game, but they can still pull it together for Wednesday...

And okay, if they DO do it now, it'll be at home in the Bronx, and it would christen the new Stadium, and that would be great... I just want it so badly for them (okay, and for us fans.) ... And yeah, I'd really like them to do it behind Andy(?), and against Pedro >:(

It's not like I'm taking Philly lightly, that's ridiculous. I knew they were going to be tough and yeah, 20/20 hindsight says they're not the kind of team you beat in five games (if at all?) Some of their guys have been stellar. Namely Lee and Utley, as a baseball fan, I have to give it up for them. They're both playing World Series baseball.

I was so amped for last night's game, and look, you can't predict anything... But it was such a heartbreaker. I'm sure I'll be excited again tomorrow night, but I'm still a little dazed.

Let's go Yankees
